The Burnley Express of 3.9.38 p 15 says the photo shows Members of the Education Committee, officials and distinguished visitors, but does not give their names. On 31.8.38 p 8 they had reported that Alderman J.R. Tomlinson, chairman of the Education Committee had presided. The Mayor of Burnley Coun. Arthur Green, J.P. is in the middle of the front row, with his Mayoress, Miss Metcalfe, on his right . Other local mayors were at the opening from Nelson, Accrngton, Bacup, Rawtenstall and Haslingden, the College taking students from all those towns. Extensions had been built to house state of the art Engineering and building trades Departments. The Burnley Express reporting on his tenure in November 1938 said that after the ceremony, Coun. Green took his fellow Mayors to a match at Turf Moor.
