Grand Buildings were built by Edmund Taylor Eastwood. He lived at No. 23 for several years. Rossendale Free Press offices can be seen with the flags and was situated next to St Mary's Vicarage. Front left of the photograph shows a section of the Market Hall attached to the (now demolished) Palace Theatre Buildings (or Grand Theatre as it was first named) Front right|: St Mary's Vicarage: Free Press Office: Joseph Harling's monumental yard - a wooden shed and a gravestone can be seen: Haslingden Road United Methodist Chapel can be seen in the centre.
