A view of Alty's Brickworks probably taken from the railway bridge on Station Road with a Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway notice in the foreground. The disused trackbed of the Wesr Lancashire Railway can be seen to the right, the line closed 7/9/1964 and the track was quickly dismantled.
The Brickworks were taken over by Henry Alty soon after they were established and remained in family hands for over 100 years. Brickmaking finished at the works in 1970.
