Gannow Steam Tug on the Leeds-Liverpool Canal c1930 at Whittlefield. In the centre is Richard 'Dick' Draper, Tug Master for over 30 years.

A tunnel had to be constructed under the Gannow area of Burnley for the canal to pass through. There was no room for a tow path, so a tug was required to get boats from one end to the other.
