General notes
"The event was to celebrate the 150th opening of the branch lines from Kirkham to Poulton and to Lytham so this makes the date 1996 ............ The idea for the celebrations was first mooted by a Mr. Jim Marshall, a Kirkham resident who got in touch with me and I took the idea forward. The arrangements were made by an ad hoc committee with representatives of the Kirkham Local History Society, the Kirkham and Wesham Town Councils.and British Railways who were very helpful. The event, which included a display about the history of the railway, which is visible on some of the photographs, was opened by a Wesham councillor, Alderman George Bamber, O.B.E. and a Kirkham councillor, Oswald Aiken, M.I.C.T. both of whom, by happy coincidence, were retired railwaymen. " Information supplied by Martin Ramsbottom Alderman Bamber is on the left of the picture.
