The picture was taken before the houses were built and trees planted opposite Oak Hill Park. It shows the the scar leading to Broad Oak Printworks and the hills beyond where Warmden Clough, Laund Farm and Cottages, and Bank Top Farm are situated. Immediately to the front is the old Court House and cottages known as Grange Villas. Culvert Street, which is in the bottom right, was demolished to make way for the fireman's dwellings erected in 1933.
