General notes

A view along the platform looking towards Rosegrove. Note the standard L&YR pattern of painting the awning canopy edge alternate colours and the ash ballast brought up above sleeper height.

The railway to Padiham opened in 1875. The passenger line closed in 1957 and the station was duly demolished. However, the line remained open in order to deliver coal to Padiham power station. The line closed for good when the power station was demolished in 1993.
