General notes

Whittle Springs Brewery was were the famous Whittle Springs ales were produced. The Brewery started out in 1836 and produced ales through into the first quarter of the 20th century. It merged the the Nutall brewery in 1929 and ceased production due to machinery being outdated. Much of the Success was credited to the lovely spring waters used in the production. The edge of the site was the location of the Howard Arms Public House.
