General notes
The room which housed Preston's first public library service was brought into use for a similar purpose a second time in 1935. One of the newsrooms in the Harris Building was converted into a children's library in that year and the original room in the Town Hall was brought into use as a reading room until it was eventually required for wartime use as a food office.
