General notes
The picture was taken from the pier end, and the dilapidated wooden pier shown which was constructed in 1856, was for ships to tie up to until the dock gate could be opened at high tide. It was removed in 1976 when the north quay was built and the old wooden gates were removed, the entrance widened and a powered modern gate installed. Bazil Point can be seen in the background and Fishnet Point in the middle left.
