Created by Kenneth MB Cross and Cecil Sutton. It was built at a total cost of £130.000 by contractors Sir Lindsay Parkinson & Co. The size, 396 ft x 110 ft, was meant for 1200 bathers and 3000 spectators. It opened on 27 July 1936, closed down in 1975 on grounds of structural problems, and demolished just a year later.
