Hob Stones is a Grade II* listed farmhouse dating from the 18th century. Lake Burwain is one of the Foulridge reservoirs serving the Leeds and Liverpool canal. Initially opened in 1798 it had to be enlarged to meet demand and then a second reservoir (now Foulridge Upper) was opened.
