Tommy Miller, J. Brandwood
This photograph shows local boxing promoter J. Brandwood (either back row right or left) with four of his boxers and another gentleman.

The most famous of his boxers was Tommy Miller (middle of front row). Tommy, who was born Tommy Crosedale in 1916, went on to fight more than 200 paid bouts. When he hung up his gloves after the Second World War he became a match maker, running a booth on one of Blackpool's piers. He was then offered a role to teach boxing at a private college in Halifax. Whilst there, Tommy continued to manage a number of high profile boxers, including Mickey Van and Pat Barrat. Tommy died in 2005 aged 87.
