Map showing location of Cuerdale Hoard. The Cuerdale Hoard is one of the largest Viking silver hoards ever found, four times larger than its nearest rival in Britain or Ireland, and second only to the Spillings Hoard found on Gotland, Sweden.

'The map shows a red cross a long way east of where the hoard was found. This may be archaeologists trying to deflect treasure hunters, although the hoard is long gone from the site, and I don’t think poses any threat from detectorists.' 20/10/2023
