The original farm had a 1631 datestone with the initials F. H., perhaps standing for Francis Holker of Holker House, Altham. It was replaced by the house in the photograph in the early 19th century. The stone over the doorway carried the date 1831 and the initials R. T. W. W. This was the owner Richard Thomas Wroe-Walton.
