General notes

By far the largest quarry in Nelson. Stone was taken by steam engine to railway.
The stone was mostly used in Blackpool.
Closed around 1930.

User feedback: 'Catlow itâ€™s still an open working quarry. It was re opened in the 80s and remains open to this day.
We use plant machinery for extraction and large saws for cutting but stone is still mostly finished by hand using the same chisels and hand tools which would have been used in the 1920s' -17/06/2024.
