General notes
This picture shows St Peter's Church in Lancaster, before it became a Cathedral, and before improvements were carried out to the interior in 1909. The Cathedral was consecrated in 1859, and was designed by E.G. Paley. Modifications 50 years later were by Paley and Austin of Lancaster, and also George Gilbert Scott. Stained glass by Shrigley and Hunt of Lancaster and Hardman's of Birmingham. The organ is by Henry Ainscough of Preston.
