Commemorative stones being laid at the New Workhouse Infirmary, Pike Law. One stone was laid at either side of the entrance, one by Mr N Worsley, J.P, member of the Local Government Board from 1880 to 1910, and the other by the Chairman of the Board (in 1909) Mr E Woolley, J.P.
The New Infirmary was officially opened on the 13th July 1912 by the President of the Local Government Board, the Rt. Hon John Burns
