General notes
For many years they performed at Leyland May Festival, in the street processions and at the Mayfield. Later this moved to Worden Park.
The Leyland Festival dates from 1889 and was originally arranged by Sunday School teachers as a children's fete. It ran annually until 1936 missing only 1901-2 and the 4 years of WWI. It was revived in 1951 to celebrate the Festival of Britain.
