General notes
It was from a window of this house that, on the 24th November 1630, Jeremiah Horrocks observed the remarkable astronomical phenomenon, the transit of the planet Venus across the sun's face. Jeremiah Horrocks was born at Toxteth Park, Liverpool, in 1617, ordained to the Ministry in 1639, and accepted the curacy of Hoole the same year at a salary of forty pounds per annum. After much research he successfully predicted the transit of the planet Venus across the sun's face. He accurately foretold the time 3.15. Jeremiah Horrocks died at the early age of 23 on the 3rd January, 1641.
