The group gave variety performances typical of the period, and Gracie Fields was known to have appeared with them on several occasions. Carlton's Cosy Corner, where they performed from 1911 onwards, was on the beach near to Lightburne Avenue in St.Annes. Freddie Carlton (front centre in photograph) was born 1872 and died 1934.
The postcard is addressed to Mrs.Dean, Blackburn. The message reads: "Dear Mother. We shall leave here to-morrow at 1.30 and get home by quarter to four or five o'clock. These are the group we have been to see every day. Love Topsy."
