General notes

The first chapel near the site was built in 1776 as a Chapel of Ease to St. Peter and St. Paul Ormskirk. In 1856 it became a parish church. Owing to mining subsidence it was damaged and this new church was built on Church Road, a nearby site, starting in 1903.
