Popular pub in Rivington, also known as 'The Black Lad'. The original pub was demolished when the reservoirs were built in the 1850's. This replacement was built with compensation monies from Liverpool Corporation, and was sited near Rivington Church. It was demolished in 1903 due to sewerage problems and pollution of the reservoir.
