General notes

Taken in 1963 when the station was still operational. The level crossing gates were across Ormskirk Road. Clayton Street is out of sight on the right. The line opened on 1st March 1858. Fares to Ormskirk were 7d 1st Class, 5d 2nd Class and 3 1/2 d 3rd Class. The last passenger train ran on 5/11/56 and the last goods train on 4/11/63. The area was cleared to make way for the 'new' Railway Road.
