The photograph was taken from above the old brickworks on Knotts Lane (grid reference E388475 N438593). On the left can be seen the site of Colne Railway Station (demolished 1971). The current leisure centre was built there in the early 1980's (opening in 1984), so the photograph probably dates from the late 1970's.
