Burnley Central Station
Burnley
Burnley Central Station was built in 1849 as part of an infrastructure project that connected Burnley to Bury via rail. Between 1871 and 1944 it was known as Bank Top Station. The 1960's affected the station badly as the routes to Liverpool, Manchester and later Skipton were lost, thus making it a station on a dead end branch line. During this period the station was redeveloped and the original Victorian buildings were demolished.

This view of the exterior of the station was taken from Railway Street, shortly before demolition.
