Altar in Colne Parish Church
Colne
Photograph shows the altar and east window of St Bartholomews Parish Church, Colne. There has been a church on this site since the 12th century, although the majority of the present building dates from the 16th century. Restoration was carried out in the 19th century, with the work being suprervised by Paley & Austin of Lancaster. The Victoria County History (Vol 6 page 532. Published in 1911), describes the east window as "a modern five-light pointed window in the 1th century style, with cinquefoiled heads to the lights and tracery over".
