The Brennand's Endowed Primary School, Slaidburn stands next to St Andrews Church. The School was built in 1717 to provide an education for boys from surrounding villages. The benefactor John Brennand was a bachelor who lived at Pain Hill Farm [then spelt Pane]. He left money in his will for the school to be built within a year of his death. Brennand's Endowed remains in service as a mixed Primary School.
