Greenhead Lane is being diverted for the construction of the M65 motorway. This dates the photograph to between March 1978 when works began and October 1981 when the motorway opened to traffic. In the centre of the photograph is Holme End. In the 1950's and 1960's it was known as "Jack Moore's" and had swing boats.
