Nelson
A North West Gas event, held at the Silverman Hall possibly linked to the conversion to North Sea Gas during the 1970's. Originally the Weavers Institute and Assembly Hall, the building was later taken over by Pendle Council and named after Sidney Silverman, the prominent campaigner for the abolition of capital punishment, who was MP for Nelson and Colne from 1935 to 1968. In 2008 the hall was sold to the trustees of the Ghosia Mosque as a community and educational centre.
