Built by Sydney Lyons and opened on the 29th August 1913 as the 'New Cinema'.
It became 'Cinema House' in 1922 when it came under Victory Theatres Ltd.
After alterations (rows of seats removed and a large stage erected) it opened as the Tivoli Concert Party Theatre on 2nd August 1926.
In December 1926 it changed to a repertory theatre and presented plays until March 1931.
Under George A. Baker as manager it put on reviews.
In November 1931 it became the 'Tivoli Talkie Theatre and presented films.
Its name changed to the 'Capitol in 1936 and remained so until it closed down in April 1955.
Seating capacity in 1954 - 472.
At the time of the image it had been converted to a garage. The original entrance is just to the right of the lamp post.
