Photograph of a painting by Edwin Beattie. Show public houses on the west side of New Street. The White Bull was used as a hospital by the Pretender's troops during the 1715 Jacobite rebellion. The First Catholic Charitable Society met there on the 3rd May 1742 and Prince Charles assembled his Scottish chiefs there on 29th November 1745 during the second Jacobite rebellion. The Swan Inn and the Golden Ball also shown. All demolished November 1893.
