Queen Street Mill: Weaving Shed, Briercliffe
Briercliffe
Queen Street Mill opened in 1895 and was owned and run by the Queen Street Manufacturing Company, which was a local co-operative. At the time of its closure in 1982 it was the last working steam powered mill in the country. After the closure it was converted into a working museum, which continues to maintain and use 300 of the original Lancashire looms.

Here, a volunteer demonstrates the use of a mechanised cotton weaving loom as part of the museum. The looms are all powered by a steam engine and the cotton goods produced are sold all over the world.
