According to Dr Whitaker, (History of the Parish of Whalley), this was his family seat, originating in 1431. (Pevsner's 'Buildings of England, Lancashire North volume). Formerly an early 17th century building, dated 1603, modified in the nineteenth century. Listed grade II it suffered a disastrous fire in 2004.
