General notes
The photograph shows South Heys Farm, more popularly known as Whiteside's Farm. It was situated to the rear of the Albany Road Badminton Club, now demolished and the site of new apartments. The majority of the farm land was at the front of the property and was contained by Blackpool Old Road and Smithy Lane. A brook ran across the fields from Smithy Lane towards the Clifton Estate and went under the main road in a tunnel. The brook formed part of the "Tank Traps" that were erected in the area during the Second World War.
