General notes
The site was created in the 1890s by Fairhaven Estates Company. Fairhaven Lake was used in the 1950s and 60s for sailing boat regattas, water skiing and hydroplane racing. No longer used for competition, but boats can still be hired, and there is a larger boat for cruises around the lake. Postcard addressed to: Mr. & Mrs. Tyldesley, Worsley, Manchester. Message reads: "Thanks for the book you sent us, very interesting reading. Hope you are all well and had a good time this festive season. Our kind regards. I.I.T.I. (or J.J.T.J.)"
