Located in Cliviger, near to a ford over the river Calder, Pot Oven Farm is named after a pottery that existed on the site from 1760 until the farm house was built in c1845. The site was ideal for a pottery as it was close to clay deposits, coal, water and materials for the glaze were also mined nearby. Finished pots were transported up Thievley Royd, over Deerplay to Manchester Road.
