This building was formerly Lytham College. The amounderness.co.uk website tells us "Lytham College for Boys was founded c1897, and the original school building was in Agnew Street, Lytham. John H. Watterson, Headmaster. Mr. Watterson had the purpose-built school erected on Clifton Drive, Ansdell 1900-01" (Jan 2011)

"The college, situate on Clifton Drive, occupies a convenient and central position in the Borough. It is within two minutes of the sea front and the Ansdell and Fairhaven Railway Station.

In the upper school the curriculum is based on the syllabus of the Cambridge university examinations, for which the school is a local centre"

From the Lytham St Annes town guide for 1926 (p.71). At the time John H Watterson was the Principal and J Gilbert Watterson the Headmaster.
