A photograph of an area of Heysham known as 'Sandylands Waterfall' at the time. Man made waterfall.
Built alongside the 'Sunny Slopes' this area was enjoyed as a new promenade during the late 1930s and the late early 1940s
The photographer and Publisher; Matthews Bradford, was in business in the inter war period (1918-1939) and perhaps beyond. The photograph was most likely taken in 1939 and was in circulation; going to publish as a postcard in 1942.
This can be confirmed by research of other photographs of the area at that time, by the fashion, and by the publisher themselves. There are also vintage postcards of the same area for sale on such internet market places as Ebay, which are exact in presentation of the area and passers by. These are marked as used in 1942.
