The original house was built in late sixteenth century, one of the earlist places to be mentioned in local records.
Located of Regent Street near to Cravendale Avenue, it was originaly accessed via Barrowford and later over a canal bridge (named after the house).
In 1562 William Lister of Middop sold the house to the then tenent, a John Hartley.
It was raided by Royalist in 1642, when oxen and other beast were stolen.
In 1719 a James Foulds acquired the farm and land.
This building was demolished in the early 1970s and the area was converted to football fields.
