The Boiler at Queen St. Mill, Briercliffe
Briercliffe
Steam to power the mill's engine is generated by this Lancashire boiler, which was built by Tinker, Shenton & Co, Hyde. . There is another boiler just out of shot. The first one was installed in 1894, and the second in 1901. Coal was originally obtained from the local Bank Hall colliery. When the mill was at its peak 6 tonnes of coal were burnet per day, but since it became a museum it now only uses 10 tonnes per month.
