The Garstang - Heron Syke Turnpike PL 53 is a hand drawn map dated 1829. Originally in the collection of Lancaster Central Library and now housed at Morecambe Library.
Catalogue number PL 53 comprised sheets 41 to 49. Sheet 49 is, regrettably missing but, according to references to this plan, has been for many years.
The numbering is irregular, as some sheets are doubles. Some sheets are blank on the reverse side, others have the remains of the 1823 Westmorland map by A Hodgson on the back of which the Turnpike map was drawn. Only the secyions featuring the Turnpike map are included here.

These maps show most of the course of the turnpike from Skerton Bridge to Longlands. Two proposed diversions are marked, including a short loop in Carnforth to the west of North Road and a minor realignment at the point where the lane from Carnforth meets the lane from Over Kellet. Also shown on some of these maps are the names of all the landowners whose property the turnpike crossed.

The map is cited and further details may be found in "The Garstang - Heron Syke Turnpike Road; two examples of modernisation in the nineteenth century" By Andrew White, published in Contrebis 28 2003.
