Edward Slater is best remembered for a series of musical dramas or light operas he wrote between 1871 and 1880. They were performed locally and went down well. Edward said that they were written by an ordianry working man for ordinary working men. He died aged only 46 in 1883. - Taken from a piece by Ken Spencer in the Burnley Express 31/3/1992.
