Reported in Burnley Express 21.7.1928 p. 6, On right standing, Alderman Buchanan, The helpers in front include Mr. Farrell, Mr. Shoesmith and Mr. Jones. The charabancs were provided by Fearings. Organised by Pearsons' Fresh Air Fund for the 22nd year, this group of 800 poor children, about to leave Red Lion St. School on 19/7/1928 for a day out in Whalley. made 1500 in total for the year, plus another 800 the following week. They also took sick children to St. Anne's or a farm for a fortnight, and appealed for donations for a poor mothers outing in August.
