Even though Burnley Fair was an annual event, the fair in 1959 was special because of the problems experienced in the previous two years. The fair in 1957 was completely washed out by rain. This should have been made up for in 1958, but due to a disagreement about the use of Fulledge recreation ground, it didn't go ahead. This led to great anticipation surrounding 1959's fair, which lived up to expectations. Crowds thoroughly enjoyed rides like the 'Hurricane Jet' and the more traditional Waltzers.
