Brierfield
Harry Palmer
This postcard shows the workers of Meadow Bank Mill in Brierfield leaving the factory for their lunch break. In the foreground was Harry Palmer. The photograph shows that men women and children were all employed by the factory. It was built in 1906 and owned by John Halstead and Sons. Two fires in the 1930s and the buildings that could be saved were demolished soon after. By 1932 only the chimney remained, which was later dismantled. (See Textile Mills of Pendle by Geoff Shackleton).
