The First World War did not officially end on 11th November 1918 and treaty negotiations continued into 1919 with the Treaty of Versailles being signed on 28th June 1919 and national 'Peace Day' celebrations taking place from July 19th 1919.

In the background can be seen the Palladium Cinema, Lancaster's first, opened in 1914
