General notes
A postcard view of 'Main Street', Morecambe, now Poulton Road. The steeple of Morecambe Parish Church can be seen in the background. The near sign advertises the services of one 'J.A.Cross, Coach Builder and Shoeing Smith, while signage just below the church steeple advertises 'Willis Brothers Joiners and Builders'. The latter of these dates the photograph to the earlier part of the 20th century; the Willis Brothers moved to Poulton Square in 1895 while the business passed to one of their sons, Alex, in 1932, and began to focus on undertaking rather than joinery and building. Also, 'The Wigan Iron and Coal Co' seen on the rear of the dray was merged with another company in 1930.
