Basin at Glasson Dock from Tithebarn Hill Lock. Glasson Dock was formed by the Lancaster Port Commission in 1780-87 for vessels too large to reach the quays at Lancaster. In 1825 a branch of the Lancaster Canal was opened to Glasson and a basin constructed inland of the docks.
