Burnley News 1/8/14 p 5, reported that the Annual inspection took place Saturday 25th July 1914 at Stoneyholme Council Schools. "53 men were inspected by Dr. Pym of Barrowford the Superintendent for No. 4 District. .. ..in triangular and roller bandaging, foot drill, Fireman's life and stretcher drill". Pictured Centre Div. Superintendent Mr. John Wilkinson, on his left Mr. John L. Colburn, on his right Mr. Fred Dixon.(Mr. Colburn and Mr. Dixon can be seen marching in King Edward VII's funeral procession, images 275692/3.)
Image 275663 also shows "34 ladies under Lady Superintendent Simpson were inspected by Dr. Pym of Barrowford the Superintendent for No. 4 District. .. ..in triangular and roller bandaging, hand-seat drill and foot drill."
